New Beginnings-The AAging Better Story
AAging Better In-Home Care began business in 1997 as Alternative Health Care, serving Kootenai County in North Idaho. The founders, Bruce and Charlene Weaver, established the main office in Post Falls to serve all of North Idaho. A second office was opened in Sandpoint in 2005 to meet the growing needs of that area and a third office was opened in Spokane Valley in 2017 to serve the greater Spokane Metro Area and surrounding counties. The agency began providing services to Medicaid clients in 2005 while continuing to serve private pay and medical insurance clients. In-home care for veterans was added in August of 2008, when the company changed its name to AAging Better In-Home Care to reflect its philosophy that individuals "age better" in the comfort of their own homes. With an emphasis on excellence and compassionate quality care, the company has grown to be the largest in-home care company in North Idaho and one of the largest in the Inland Empire region. A large staff of home care aides (HCAs), RNs, LPNs and caregivers spread across the Inland Northwest allows AAging Better to provide any service needed for in-home care in virtually every area of the region.
New, New Beginnings
Bruce and Charlene built this company from the ground up. Their contributions have been an integral part of the company for the last 23 years and their hard work, dedication and commitment to their staff and clients are worthy of admiration. In June, Bruce and Charlene announced their retirement. Charlene may still be seen in the office from time to time, her knowledge and skills are unmatched and we will always welcome her with open arms.
Their son Brandt Weaver purchased AAging Better In-Home Care on July 1, 2020, and has taken on the role of President and CEO. He has been working hard behind the scenes since 2003, helping to lay a strong foundation and has taken the steps to bring this company to the forefront of home care agency standards. His wife Melissa, is currently working by his side as the Regional Director and Direct Care Supervisor (DCS) for the Spokane Valley office. Melissa has over a decade of experience in hospital, oncology, long-term care and hospice pharmacy. She is currently working toward her BSN to further her experience and knowledge base in this field.
“AAging Better responded faster than any other agency I called and the staff was very helpful. Finding a caregiver for mom has been really stressful but when we called AAging Better, they made the whole process of getting started seem easy. The nurse explained everything in clear terms when she came to the house to meet us and the caregiver they placed with mom has turned out to be wonderful. My husband and I definitely recommend AAging Better for someone that needs in-home care for a parent–or anyone for that matter.”
